Treason the Musical is coming to the stage in its first full production. The production will launch a fall tour at Edinburgh, Scotland's Festival Theatre October 25, and will play Sheffield Lyceum Theatre October 31 and run at London's Alexandra Palace November 8-18.
The musical delves into the historic Gunpowder Plot of 1605 which tried to bring down the British monarchy and the government. (For history nerds, the production's fall tour dates are entirely appropriate as the plot was attempted November 5, since coined as Guy Fawkes Day after one of the leaders of the Gunpowder Plot.) Exploring the religious persecution, brutality, and division which led to the plot, Treason features original folk and pop songs.
Ricky Allan and Kieran Lynn serve as co-creators of the production. Allan has penned the music, lyrics, and book.
Previously, Treason has been mounted as a concert, first at Cadogan Hall in 2021 and then at Theatre Royal Drury Lane in 2022 where it sold out. A 19-track album of the show titled Lighting The Fuse: Sparks From Treason In Concert was released last month.
Tickets will go on sale at a later date.
