2022 Best Play Tony Award winner The Lehman Trilogy has found its theatre and set dates for its previously announced 2023 West End return.
National Theatre and Neal Street Productions will present the acclaimed drama at the Gillian Lynne Theatre beginning January 24, 2023, for a 17-week run. The production will officially open February 8 and continue through May 20. Casting will be announced.
Tickets will go on sale to the general public July 21 at TheLehmanTrilogy.com. American Express Card members will have access to presale tickets beginning July 19 at NationalTheatre.org.uk.
The Broadway staging, which ended its run at the Nederlander Theatre in January, followed its premiere at London’s National Theatre in 2018, a North American debut at the Park Avenue Armory in 2019, and a subsequent West End engagement.
Written by Stefano Massini and adapted by Ben Power, The Lehman Trilogy chronicles the success and eventual failure of the famed financial institution. The London import also won Tony Awards for director Sam Mendes, lighting designer Jon Clark, scenic designer Es Devlin, and original London company member Simon Russell Beale, who won the Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Play Tony for his work as Henry Lehman.
Olivier winner Adrian Lester made his Broadway debut in the play; he replaced Ben Miles (as Emanuel Lehman), who departed due to other project commitments after the show's previews were interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Original company members Beale and Adam Godley reprised their roles as Henry Lehman and Mayer Lehman, respectively.
The creative team also includes costume designer Katrina Lindsay, video designer Luke Halls, composer and sound designer Nick Powell, co-sound designer Dominic Bilkey, music director Candida Caldicot, and associate director Zoé Ford Burnett with movement by Polly Bennett. Casting is by Jessica Ronane.
