The 20th anniversary revival of The Play What I Wrote streams on demand via Birmingham Rep March 15-April 4. The production features Dennis Herdman, Thom Tuck, and Mitesh Soni, with Loki star and Broadway alum Tom Hiddleston as the special guest star.

Written by Hamish McColl, Sean Foley, and Eddie Braben, the comedic play-within-a-play centers on Thom, who has written an epic play set during the French Revolution titled A Tight Squeeze for Scarlet Pimple. Dennis wants to continue with their double act, a tribute to famed comedy duo Morecambe and Wise, but first he has to persuade a special guest star to appear in Thom's play.

The work premiered at Liverpool Playhouse Theatre in 2001, moving to London's West End the same year in a production directed by Kenneth Branagh. A Broadway debut followed in 2003, earning a Tony nomination for Special Theatrical Event. Typically featuring a new guest star at each performance, past guests have included Ralph Fiennes, Ewan McGregory, Kevin Kline, Roger Moore, Alan Alda, Jeff Goldblum, and Daniel Radcliffe.

The stream was filmed live at Theatre Royal Bath during its run earlier this year, part of a 20th anniversary revival co-produced by Theatre Royal Bath, David Pugh, and Birmingham Repertory Theatre. The production is directed by the work's playwright and original star Sean Foley and features choreography by Ian West and designs by Alice Power.
