The Tony eligibility cut-off for the 2014-15 season is April 23.

Published in 2011, "The Last Testament: A Memoir By God" was penned by Emmy Award-winning "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" writer David Javerbaum, a 2008 Tony Award nominee for the musical Cry-Baby.

The writer adapted his book, which is characterized as being "written by God and transcribed by David Javerbaum," for the stage production that is titled An Act of God. Javerbaum also runs the popular satirical Twitter account @TheTweetOfGod. A statement, released by "God," reads, "I chose Jim to play Me because I relish the irony of telling the real story of the Six Days of Creation through the star of 'The Big Bang Theory.' Plus, he's funny. The theatre was also chosen for ironic reasons, as Studio 54 - up to this point - has been the single most God-less place in the universe. And as for our director, Joe Mantello, that was not ironic. I've been a fan of his since Wicked!"

Parsons has also been seen on Broadway in Harvey and The Normal Heart

Casting of two angels and the design team will be announced at a later date. 101 Productions, Ltd. will serve as executive producers.

The play is billed as "a 90- minute conversation in which [God] will reveal the mysteries of the Bible and answer some of the greatest existential questions that plague mankind."

Studio 54 is located at 254 West 54th Street. Act of God is not a Roundabout production; the theatre is being rented for this Broadway production. Visit AnActOfGod.com.
