
In 1969, Reinking appeared in the ensemble of Coco, a musical based on the life and career of fashion designer Coco Chanel.
The production opened on Dec. 18, 1969, and starred Hollywood icon Katharine Hepburn in the title role. Hepburn had appeared in a number of Broadway plays, but Coco marked her first (and only) Broadway musical appearance.

For her performance as Maggie, Reinking received Outer Critics Circle and Theatre World Awards, as well as the 1974 Clarence Derwent Award for Most Promising Female Performer.

The production received glowing reviews and won six Tony Awards, including one for Reinking's Bob Fosse-inspired choreography. The musical is still running today at the Ambassador Theatre and holds the record for the third longest-running show in Broadway history.
