When the Broadway production of the Tony-winning The Book of Mormon
plays its 4,643rd performance December 28 at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre, it will surpass Jersey Boys to become the 12th longest-running show in Broadway history.
To mark the occasion, four members of the current Broadway cast of The Book of Mormon—Noah Marlowe, PJ Adzima, John Pinto, Jr., and Ben Laxton—pay tribute to the Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons musical in a new video featuring a “Walk Like a Man"/“Man Up” mashup. The Book of Mormon opened on Broadway March 24, 2011, and went on to win nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical, as well as the Grammy for Best Musical Theatre Album. The current Broadway company is headed by Kevin Clay as Elder Price, Cody Jamison Strand as Elder Cunningham, and Kim Exum as Nabulungi.
The Book of Mormon is
also the longest-running show in the history of Jujamcyn Theatres and the longest-running production in the 98-year history of the Eugene O’Neill
Theatre. The London
production, which opened in March 2013, won four Olivier Awards,
including Best Musical.
The Book of Mormon features
a book, music, and lyrics by Trey Parker, Robert Lopez, and Matt Stone.
The production is choreographed by Casey Nicholaw and is directed by
Nicholaw and Parker.
The musical also has set design by Scott
Pask, costume design by Ann Roth, lighting design by Brian MacDevitt,
and sound design by Brian Ronan. Orchestrations are by Larry Hochman and
Stephen Oremus. Music direction and vocal arrangements are by Stephen
Oremus.
