The upcoming production of Jez Butterworth's Jerusalem has announced the full cast joining the previously announced Mark Rylance and Mackenzie Crook for its limited engagement at the Apollo Theatre. The show makes its return to London's West End April 16 with an opening night set for April 28. The limited engagement will continue through August 7.
Rylance and Crook are reprising their roles of Johnny "Rooster" Byron and Ginger, respectively. Joining them are Kemi Awoderu as Pea, Alan David as The Professor, Shane David-Joseph as Mr. Parsons, Gerard Horan as Wesley, Ed Kear as Davey, Charlotte O’Leary as Tanya, Indra Ové as Dawn, Jack Riddiford as Lee, Barry Sloane as Troy Whitworth, Niky Wardley as Linda Fawcett, and Eleanor Worthington-Cox as Phaedra.
Sharing the role of Marky are Kobe Champion-Norville, Jesse Manzi, and Matteo Philbert. Abigail Green, Amanda Gordon, Callum Sheridan-Lee, Greg Snowden, and Anthony Taylor join the production as understudies. Final casting will be announced at a later date.
Jerusalem follows wanted man Johnny Byron through the pressures facing him. On the morning of the local fair celebrating St. George's Day, Byron is faced with officials who want to evict him, his son who wants to go to the fair with him, Troy Whitworth who wants revenge, and a crew of mates who wants his supply of drugs and alcohol.
Ian Rickson will direct the production presented by Sonia Friedman Productions and the Royal Court Theatre. The original creative team will also be reprising their parts for this production, including designer ULTZ, lighting designer Mimi Jordan Sherin, composer Stephen Warlock, sound designer Ian Dickinson for Autograph, and casting director Amy Ball.
The show originally premiered at the Royal Court Theatre in 2009 and returns to the West End after sold-out runs at the Royal Court and Apollo Theatres 2009-2011, and Broadway's Music Box Theater in 2011.
