The current company of Into The Woods visited The View for some Halloween fun October 31. The cast performed a medley including the show's prologue and "Last Midnight," leaving the audience of the daytime talk show with some spooky undertones for the holiday. Understudy Jason Forbach, who covers of all major male roles in the production, stepped in as Cinderella's Prince for the performance, with understudy Lucia Spina filling in as Jack's Mother.
Playing the St. James Theatre, the revival of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Into the Woods is currently led by Stephanie J. Block and Brian d'Arcy James as the Baker's Wife and the Baker, respectively, alongside Krysta Rodriguez as Cinderella, Gavin Creel as the Wolf and Cinderella's Prince, Andy Karl as Rapunzel's Prince, Katy Geraghty as Little Red Ridinghood, Jim Stanek as the Steward, Cole Thompson as Jack, Ann Harada as Jack's Mother, David Patrick Kelly as the Mysterious Man, Nancy Opel as Cinderella's Stepmother, and Alysia Velez as Rapunzel. Montego Glover and Patina Miller share the role of The Witch.
The cast is rounded out by Ta'Nika Gibson, Annie Golden, Albert Guerzon, Brooke Ishibashi, Kennedy Kanagawa, Delphi Borich, Felicia Curry, Jason Forbach, Alex Joseph Grayson, Cameron Johnson, Paul Kreppel, Mary Kate Moore, Diane Phelan, and Lucia Spina.
With a book by James Lapine and a score by Stephen Sondheim, Into the Woods combines the fairy-tale stories of Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, Rapunzel, and more, ultimately going beyond "ever after" to explore what happens next.
The Into the Woods creative team includes music director Rob Berman; choreographer Lorin Latarro; scenic designer David Rockwell; costume designer Andrea Hood; lighting designer Tyler Micoleau; sound designer Scott Lehrer, co-designing with Alex Neumann; puppet designer James Ortiz; and hair and makeup designer Cookie Jordan. Casting is by The Telsey Office's Craig Burns, and Cody Renard Richard serves as production supervisor. Justin Scribner is production stage manager, and music coordination is by Seymour Red Press and Kimberlee Wertz.
Following a two-week run at New York City Center in May, the revival transferred to Broadway's St. James Theatre, where it opened July 10, after beginning previews June 28.
