Additionally, Pregones/PRTT’s production of The Harlem Hellfighters on a Latin Beat will begin live performances October 6 at Puerto Rican Traveling Theater. Featuring book, lyrics, and direction by Rosalba Rolón, with music by Desmar Guevara, James Reese Europe, Rafael Hernández, and the Harlem Hellfighters 369th Infantry Band, the musical is the first of the Refocus Project initiative.

With a mission to elevate and restore marginalized plays to the American canon, the multi-year initiative launched March 2021, partnering with Black Theatre United and focusing on 20th-century Black playwrights. The first year of the initiative resulted in the Broadway production Trouble In Mind, in addition to four readings.
