The Olivia Jacobs-directed, Olivier Award-nominated adaptation will be seen at the Lyric Theatre.

Room On The Broom

The Olivier Award-nominated adaptation of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s children's novel Room on the Broom will run in the West End at the Lyric Theatre July 21–September 4.

The Tall Stories production is directed by Olivia Jacobs and features set design by Morgan Large. The cast will include Jessica Manu in her West End debut as the Witch, Hannah Miller as Cat, Peter Steele returning to play Dog and Frog, and Jake Waring as Bird and Dragon. Jayant Singh is an understudy.

Created in 2008, the work features puppetry and sing-a-long tunes. It follows the story of a witch and her cat traveling via broomstick, picking up a few colorful characters along the way. They find that the broomstick isn't strong enough to hold all of them, and it breaks, leaving them victim to a hungry dragon.

"I’m thrilled that Tall Stories is returning to the Lyric Theatre with Room on the Broom this summer. After a difficult time for touring theatre companies, this story of pulling together in times of adversity feels very apt," shares director and Tall Stories co-founder Jacobs. "We’re looking forward to bringing a sprinkling of magic to families this summer with this funny, fast-paced, high-energy show."

The children's show has toured the U.K., Ireland, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Dubai, and Poland. It has also been translated into German, where it tours regularly with Junges Theater Bonn.

The production will also have puppet design by Yvonne Stone, lighting design by James Whiteside, choreography by Morag Cross, and music composition by Jon Fiber and Andy Shaw.
