The Verdict Reviews: Did Critics Dig What Became of Us Off-Broadway?

Shayan Lofti's play features two different casts, beginning with BD Wong and Rosalind Chao.

Shayan Lofti's What Became of Us officially opened its world premiere Off-Broadway at Atlantic Theater Company June 4, and the reviews are in.

The production features two separate casts, with Joy Luck Club's Rosalind Chao and M. Butterfly Tony winner BD Wong starring through June 15, and House of Saddam Emmy winner Shohreh Aghdashloo and The Band's Visit Tony winner Tony Shalhoub taking over June 10-29. Both casts will perform in repertory June 11-13.

Directed by Jennifer Chang, What Became of Us follows two siblings, "one born there [and] one born here," according to press notes. The play examines how they maintain their connections to the old country, to this country, and to each other.
