Tony nominee Raúl Esparza will star in the world premiere of Galileo at Berkeley Repertory Theatre. The new musical will play the California venue May 5–June 16, 2024. Tony-winning director Michael Mayer is at the helm.
Featuring a book by Emmy winner Danny Strong, choreography by David Neumann, and music and lyrics by Michael Weiner and Zoe Sarnak, the work, set to a rock score, follows a scientist challenging humanity’s understanding of its place in the universe. Further casting will be announced at a later date.
Galileo will also include music supervision and orchestrations by Brian Usifer, music direction by Roberto Sinha, scenic design by Rachel Hauck, costume design by Anita Yavich, lighting design by Kevin Adams, sound design by John Shivers, and projections by Jason Thompson and Kaitlyn Pietras. Rick Steiger will serve as production stage manager. Casting is by Jim Carnahan and Jason Thinger.
