In the walkabout event, new short plays by Tanya Barfield, Bathsheba Doran, Richard Dresser, Daniel Goldfarb, Jonathan Marc Sherman, Jeanine Tesori and Alfred Uhry will be presented in spaces within PH's five-story West 42nd Street home. The writers are PH alumni.
For the event, nooks and crannies within the two-venue home of Playwrights Horizons become a stage — for mingling, drinking and watching stars perform intimate playlets.
According to PH, "Each play will be performed in a different, unconventional space throughout all five stories of Playwrights Horizons' home at 416 West 42nd Street, and the entire evening will benefit the company's developmental programs and productions."
This year's theme for Stories On 5 Stories is "Dirty Laundry," for which "eight of Playwrights Horizons' favorite writers will hang it out on the line for everyone to see. Be one of only 200 guests to watch the drama unfold as we present new short plays in unique settings throughout our building. Maybe a quarrelling couple will iron things out in the costume shop. Or you'll see who has a laundry list of issues in the ladies room. One thing's for sure: It'll all come out in the wash. Join us for a special 'Spin Cycle' dinner with the artists at Chez Josephine, the restaurant next door, before the show."
