Happy birthday to Broadway's brightest born in the first month of the year—from a Hamilton creator to multiple actresses who have played Anita in West Side Story.

The holiday season has not quite drawn to a close for Broadway talents who celebrate their birthdays in January. Take a look at the list below of the incredibly talented performers, producers, writers, directors, and more who will be turning another year older this month.

Kicking off the month is Robyn Hurder, currently on Broadway in A Beautiful Noise, on January 1.

Dave Malloy, the book writer, composer, and lyricist behind Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812, on January 4.

André De Shields, Tony Award-winner for Hadestown and currently on Broadway in Death of a Salesman, on January 12.

Gwen Verdon, the late triple-threat and original Roxie Hart in Chicago, on January 13.

Ethel Merman (Gypsy's original Rose and Annie Get Your Gun's first Annie Oakley) shares her birthday with on Lin-Manuel Miranda (the Pulitzer Prize recipient, creator and original star of Broadway's Hamilton) on January 16.

James Earl Jones—whose unmistakeable voice filled Broadway stages in The Iceman ComethOthello, and The Gin Game (as well as on-screen in Star Wars and The Lion King)—on January 17.

Chita Rivera—revered for originating Anita in West Side Story and Velma Kelly in Chicago—on January 23.

Ariana DeBose—Tony Award-winner as Donna in Summer: The Donna Summer Musical and Oscar winner for playing Anita in the 2021 remake of West Side Story—on January 25.

Celia Keenan-Bolger—most recently on the Broadway stage as Scout Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird—on January 26.

Alan Cumming—Master of Ceremonies in Cabaret and Threepenny Opera's Macheath—on January 27.

As January draws to a close, we have another set of birthday twins with performer Norbert Leo Butz (My Fair LadyCatch Me If You Can, and Wicked) and prolific director-producer Harold Prince (West Side StoryFiddler on the Roof, and Sweeney Todd) sharing a birthday on January 30.

Our finale birthday for the month of January is Mrs. Dolly Levi herself, Carol Channing (Hello, Dolly!) on the 31st.
