A Mirror, which transferred to London's West End from the Almeida Theatre, began its current engagement at the Trafalgar Theatre January 22. Check out new photos from the production, which will officially open February 1 and continue through April 20, in the gallery below.
Reprising their performances from the Almeida run are Jonny Lee Miller, Tanya Reynolds, and Geoffrey Streatfeild as Čelik, Mei, and Bax, respectively. The trio are joined by BAFTA nominee Samuel Adewunmi (You Don't Know Me) as Adem.
Written by Sam Holcroft, the play takes place at a non-licensed wedding in an authoritarian state, exploring ideas of censorship, free speech, and art as resistance. Almeida's run earned an Evening Standard Award nomination for Best New Play.
Jeremy Herrin directs the piece. The production also features set and costume design by Max Jones, lighting design by Azusa Ono, music and sound design by Nick Powell, and fight direction by Jonathan Holby. Casting is by Jessica Ronane.
Second Half Productions is producing the West End bow, with co-producers Almeida Theatre, Rodeo Productions/Tilted, Winkler & Smalberg, and Trish Wadley Productions.
Next year, Carnegie Hall's house band will perform Bernstein’s “Kaddish” Symphony, unfinished works by Schubert, and the final concert of Conductor Bernard Labadie.
