The holiday mystery from playwright Mark Shanahan again plays a limited engagement at New World Stages.

A Sherlock Carol, the holiday mystery from playwright Mark Shanahan, officially opens its return Off-Broadway engagement at New World Stages November 28 following previews that began November 21. Originally directed by Shanahan, the production will continue through January 1, 2023.

Drew McVety (Billy Elliot) returns as the titular sleuth with Allen Gilmore (The School for Scandal) joining the company as Scrooge. Also new to the cast is Joanna Carpenter (Actors Theater of Louisville’s A Christmas Carol), who joins returning company members Dan Domingues (The Tempest), Tony nominee Isabel Keating (The Boy From Oz), Mark Price (Mary Poppins), and understudies Joe Delafield (Tartuffe), Alexandra Kopko (Peter and the Starcatcher), and Byron St. Cyr (My Fair Lady national tour).

Charles Dickens and Arthur Conan Doyle collide in A Sherlock Carol when a grown-up Tiny Tim turns to Sherlock Holmes to solve the peculiar death of Ebenezer Scrooge. The mystery debuted at New World Stages in 2021. A London production plays the Marylebone Theatre through January 7, 2023.

With restaging by Jen Waldman (Wicked, Titanic), the show features scenic design by Tony nominee Anna Louizos, costume design by Tony winner Linda Cho, lighting design by Obie winner Rui Rita, original music and sound design by Tony nominee John Gromada, and hair and wig design by Emmy nominee Charles G. LaPointe.

Digital rush tickets, priced $25, are available by clicking here; up to four tickets per person may be purchased. Rush opens at 11 AM on the day of the performance and closes 30 minutes before curtain. The digital lottery can be found here. Entries for the digital lottery start at midnight, one day before the performance, and end the same day at 3 PM. Winners are drawn at 9 AM for matinees and 3 PM for evening shows. Winners may buy up to four tickets at $25 each.
