Off-Broadway News Michael Genet Joins Perfect Crime Off-Broadway

The whodunit murder mystery is the longest-running play in New York City history.

Michael Genet has joined the cast of the record-breaking Perfect Crime Off-Broadway at the Anne L. Bernstein Theater.

Genet, whose numerous Broadway credits include Chicken & Biscuits, Choir Boy, The Prom, Fences, Lestat, Wicked, Hamlet, and A Few Good Men, is now playing the role of Inspector James Ascher.

He joins a company that includes Chistopher Douglaston Ryan, David Butler, and Catherine Russell, who has been with the production since its debut.

The whodunit murder mystery Perfect Crime celebrated its 15,000th performance December 5, 2024. The production is the longest-running play in New York City history.

Written by Warren Manzi and produced by Armand Michael Hyatt, the show follows brilliant psychiatrist and suspected killer Margaret Brent, her wealthy husband, her deranged patient, and her love interest, a handsome detective.

The murder mystery has played continually since 1987, and was the first Equity-approved production to reopen following the COVID shutdown.
