Tony nominee Melissa Errico will release her new studio album, Out of The Dark: The Film Noir Project, February 18 on the Ghostlight Records label.
The song cycle, which tells a story of hope, despair, and hope renewed, features songs from noir classics like Laura and The Bad and The Beautiful as well as French chansons of the 1950s and '60s. Listeners can expect four new songs composed by Michel Legrand, David Shire, and Peter Foley, with lyrics by Errico's frequent collaborator Adam Gopnik, all arranged by musical director and pianist Tedd Firth.
Also included in the 17-song collection: Cy Coleman and David Zippel’s “With Every Breath I Take,” Howard Dietz and Arthur Schwartz’s “Haunted Heart,” Harold Arlen and George Gershwin’s “The Man That Got Away,” Lionel Newman’s “Again,” and Harry Warren and Leo Robin’s “Checkin’ My Heart.”

“I’ve always loved noir songs,” says Errico. “They thrill me with their sensuality. I loved finding my lost inner femme fatale. This album is about another time and this time, both.”

Musicians include Firth on piano, Lorin Cohen on bass, Eric Halvorson on drums, Bob Mann on guitar, Joe Locke on vibes, Kevin Winard on percussion, Scott Wendholt on trumpet, David Mann on saxophone, and Richard Locker on cello.
Errico will celebrate her new recording with two concerts at Feinstein's/54 Below February 18 and 19, both at 7 PM. Click here for ticket information.
