Melissa Errico performs at the memorial for Michel Legrand in Paris
Tony nominee Melissa Errico, longtime interpreter of the work of the late French composer Michel Legrand, heads overseas for two concerts in Paris, France.
The Broadway favorite is joined by her friend Isabelle Georges, Legrand's French muse. Performances are scheduled for Les Deux Grandes Dames May 28 at 1 PM (a special live broadcast with Radio France) and Broadway—Champs Élysées June 2 at 8 PM. (The May 28 concert will also be available for streaming after its debut by clicking here.)
Attendees can expect to hear Broadway tunes as well as the new, original comedy song "I Can't Speak French," penned by Marc Shaiman and Adam Gopnik. Jeremy Sams also wrote the opening number for Errico and Georges, adapting the classic Legrand duet "Chanson des Jumelles."
A Tony nominee for her performance in Amour, Errico has also been seen on Broadway in Anna Karenina, My Fair Lady, High Society, Dracula the Musical, and Irving Berlin's White Christmas.
Composing team Julia Mattison and Noel Carey break down the origin of four songs from the hit Broadway musical, including how they found the pun in “For the Gaze.”
