News Marisa Tomei Stars in Williamstown's Rose Tattoo, Beginning Tonight The Tennessee Williams classic will officially open July 2.

Williamstown Theatre Festival's Main Stage season kicks off June 28 with Tennessee Williams’ Tony Award-winning play The Rose Tattoo.

Obie Award winner Trip Cullman directs Academy Award winner Marisa Tomei in this new production. The Oscar winner is joined by Christopher Abbott (Girls), Katie Lee Hill (The Wildness), Darren Pettie (Mad Men), Will Pullen (Goat), Portia (Ruined), Lindsay Mendez (Wicked), Barbara Rosenblat (Orange is the New Black) and Constance Shulman (Orange is the New Black).

Williams’ The Rose Tattoo, which won the Tony for Best Play in 1951, is described as such: “After retreating from the world in grief, widow Serafina (Tomei) revives and rejoins the world when the hot-blooded trucker Alvaro arrives at her doorstep. Passion, gossip, music and mystery fill the air in this steamy Gulf Coast town, where possibility and promise ignite.”

Tomei won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for My Cousin Vinny.

Opening is scheduled for July 2; performances continue through July 17.
