News Jay Wegman to Lead NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts The former director of the Abrons Art Center will assume the position of senior director next month.

Jay Wegman has been appointed senior director of NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts, where he will oversee the center’s artistic programming.

Wegman arrives at the center following a ten-year tenure as director of the Abrons Art Center at Henry Street Settlement. There, he worked with the likes of Rufus Wainwright, Karole Armitage, Lou Reed, Laurie Anderson and John Zorn.

“We are pleased to welcome Jay to NYU Skirball, and know that his experience in programming innovative and original works will enhance and expand Skirball’s presentations,” said Owen Moore, assistant vice president of New York University, in a statement. “We look forward to the next era of artistic growth under Jay’s direction.”
