Several industry professionals have joined the selection committee for the 4th annual ENOUGH! Plays to End Gun Violence teen playwriting competition. Young writers (ages 13–19) nationwide are invited to submit 10-minute plays which tackle the issue of gun violence.
The 2025 selection committee comprises former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, New York Times bestselling author Jason Reynolds, dramaturg Ken Cerniglia (Hadestown), and playwrights Kate Hamill (Pride and Prejudice), Karen Zacarías (Mariela in the Desert), and James Ijames (Fat Ham).
Submissions are open here through April 1. Winning playwrights will receive a $500 stipend and a workshop of their play with professional playwrights. Their work will also be published by Playscripts, an imprint of the Broadway Licensing Group, and performed nationwide in a series of staged readings on October 6, including a flagship reading at The Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.
Since its inception in 2019, ENOUGH! has received over 600 play submissions from teen playwrights, engaged 3,000 artists to perform its plays, and reached over 14,000 audience members through more than 140 staged readings nationwide. ENOUGH! is the recipient of the 2024 Theatre for Young Audiences Community Impact Award and the 2023 Goldin Foundation Exemplary Project Award.
