INTAR Theater will present the world premieres of Mariana Carreño King's Truckers and Julissa Contreras' Vámonos in its Main Stage season. Presented with the Radio Drama Network, Truckers will run February 25-March 26 Off-Broadway with opening night set for March 6. Vámonos will begin performances April 22 and open May 2 for a run through May 21.
Alfredo Narciso will direct Truckers, which follows Mayor, Lollipop, and Freckles whose trip with some unusual cargo gets weird when unexpected guests, a strange rest stop clerk, and otherworldly energies appear. The dark comedy will star Christine Bruno, Jesse Castellanos, Jorge Chapa, Yadira Correa, and Jacqueline Guillén. The production will feature scenic design by Raul Abrego, sound design by Jimmy Kavetas, costume design by Harry Nadal, and lighting design by Dalia Sevilla. Traci Bargen will serve as production stage manager.
Vámonos tells the story of the Torres family, a Dominican family from the Bronx who gather to celebrate the christening of Juana's grandson, Christopher. It’s just a year after 9/11, and this bilingual play explores how the family navigates a new reality that challenges their sense of security. Tatyana-Marie Carlo will direct, with the cast and further creative team members to be announced at a later date.
INTAR is one of the longest-running Latiné theatres producing in English in the United States and is dedicated to developing theatre arts without borders and Latiné theatre artists.
