Out of the Box Theatrics will present developmental readings of Jeff Cohen's autobiographical comedy Squeaky November 14-17. Chronicling the playwright's end-of-life issues with his father, the play will be staged "script-in-hand" at 154 Christopher Street (formerly known as The New Ohio Theater.)
The work explores Cohen's personal journey with his eccentric father, Stan "Squeaky" Cohen, a man who was banned from every Old Country Buffet in the greater Baltimore area. By telling his family's story, Cohen aims for audiences to find parallels within their own family in both the somber moments and the laugh-out-loud ones.
The cast of the reading will include Harris Yulin as Stan “Squeaky” Cohen, Marc Kudisch as Jeff, Tovah Feldshuh as Sandy, Lou Liberatore as Rob, and Benja Kay Thomas as Constance “Connie” Pryor.
Squeaky will serve as the first of Out of the Box Theatrics' Developmental Reading series, dedicated to developing new works. Admission is free, but a $20 donation is suggested.
