Two-time Oscar winner Glenda Jackson, who is currently playing the title character in King Lear in a production of the Shakespeare classic at London’s Old Vic Theatre, may repeat her work on Broadway.
The Daily Mail reports that the Old Vic producing team is working with commercial producers Sonia Friedman, Bob Bartner, and Scott Rudin to explore the idea of transferring the production to both the West End and Broadway in 2017.
In previews since October 25, the production officially opened November 4 for a run through December 3. Directed by Deborah Warner, this Lear also features William Chubb, Morfydd Clark, Jane Horrocks, Rhys Ifans, Celia Imrie, Simon Manyonda, and Harry Melling, plus Fiston Barek, Gary Sefton, and Clifford Rose.
An Old Vic spokesperson told the London paper that “nothing is confirmed” about a King Lear transfer.
