Olivier Award winner Giles Terera (Hamilton) will join the previously announced Steve Coogan in the world premiere stage production of Stanley Kubrick’s Dr. Strangelove.

Directed by Sean Foley, who penned the stage adaptation with Armando Iannucci, performances will begin at the Noël Coward Theatre in London’s West End October 8 for a limited engagement recently extended through January 25, 2025.

The comedy, about a rogue U.S. general who triggers a nuclear crisis, will subsequently play Dublin’s Bord Gáis Energy Theatre February 5-22.

Terera, who will play the role of General Buck Turgidson, said in a statement, “Part of the excitement of doing this project was getting to work with really great people; and the gentlemen who are putting this particular project together operate at the highest level—in terms of their craft of storytelling, comedy, satire, and telling really entertaining stories about really consequential subject matters in an entertaining and humorous way.”

The creative team also includes set and costume designer Hildegard Bechtler, lighting designer Jessica Hung Han Yun, sound designer and composer Ben and Max Ringham, projection designer Akhila Krishnan, casting director Amy Ball, production manager Chris Hay, casting associate Arthur Carrington, sound system designer Sam Clarkson for Sound Quiet Time, wigs and makeup supervisor Kate Elizabeth, and props supervisor Chris Marcus and Jonathan Hall for Marcus Hall Props

Dr. Strangelove is produced by Patrick Myles and David Luff, Tulchin Bartner Productions, Playful Productions, Barbara Broccoli, Jean Doumanian, Alexander “Sandy” Marshall, Playing Field, Mark Puddle, Trafalgar Theatre Productions and in association with Wild Yak. Jonathan Cameron is the executive producer for the Stanley Kubrick Estate.
