The premiere recording of Gracie Hyland and Gretchen Cryer's new musical House on Fire releases for streaming January 31, but Playbill has a first listen to the show's opening number, "Have I Got a Story." Listen above.
The album's cast includes Angela Birchett (The Color Purple), Michael McCorry Rose (Wicked), Gabriella Joy Rodriguez (The Color Purple), and Tyley Ross (Miss Saigon), along with Cryer and Hyland. Backing them are a band led by music director Jody Shelton on piano, and also including Joe Choroszewski on drums, Oscar Albis Rodriguez on guitar, and Leigh Stuart on cello.

Cryer, Hyland, and the rest of the cast will celebrate the album's release with a concert at The Green Room 42 February 4. Shelton, who has also penned orchestrations and produced the album, will music direct the performance with DeMone Seraphin directing. The evening will also stream. The show, which premiered at The Green Room 42 as a staged concert in September 2024, is described as a "cautionary fairy tale musical," following 13-year-old Sophia, who's anxious about climate change while her father owns the biggest fossil fuel company in the world.
