We were waiting for the chirp of a child being born, and the day has come!
Eleanora Joy was born at 8:15 PM on January 9, just one day after the revival closed. At 15 minutes after the curtain, Davis joked in her social media announcement that the child was "just in time for Scene 3; her fave scene to dance around."
In her announcement, Davis elaborated that "per her exquisite comedic timing, she waited til a day after closing as her role of Metaphor Of A Nation couldn’t be compromised."
Davis performed in 1776 throughout her pregnancy, opening the production while seven months pregnant and continued through the holiday season—with her January 1 due date looming. Her final performance was December 23, when she handed the role over to Nancy Anderson.
This is the second child for Davis and her husband, Jordan Richard, who is a musician and director. Their first child, named Josiah, was born in 2017.
Our congratulations to the happy family; a triumph!
