London's Kiln Theatre has unveiled its upcoming 2024-2025 season, the first to be programmed by new Artistic Director Amit Sharma.

Included in that season is a U.K. premiere of Dan McCabe's The Purists, which premiered at Boston's Huntington Theatre in 2019. Kiln's production will be a new staging, directed by Sharma and running November 14-December 21. Opening night will be November 22.

The story centers on Lamont, Mr. Bugz, and Gerry as they hang out on their Queens stoop. When two young women put their rap battling skills to the test, they find out just how much they disagree on incendiary topics—and how much they have in common. Casting for Kiln's production is to be announced.

The season will open with the world premiere of Rob Drummond's Pins and Needles, running September 19-October 26 and opening September 25. Sharma will direct the work, which explores vaccines and why some people have issues trusting the science behind them.

Moving into 2025, Kiln will join forces with Jermyn Street Theatre for a new production of Sam Selvon's The Lonely Londoners, adapted by Roy Williams. Ebenezer Bamgboye will direct, with performances running January 10-February 15, 2025, and opening January 16. Based on Selvon's novel, the work follows an immigrant from Trinidad making a new home in London.

The season will close with a world premiere from Amy Ng. Shanghai Dolls will begin in April 2025, with dates to be announced. The work is inspired by the untold story of Madam Mao and Sun Weishi, two Chinese women who meet as struggling actors and forge a lifelong friendship that will see both becoming among the most influential women in China's history.
