Regional News Dan Fogler Will Star as Producer Michael Uslan in The Boy Who Loved Batman

The new work, set to debut at Tampa, Florida's Straz Center, has its eyes on Broadway.

Tony winner Dan Fogler (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee) will star as Batman film producer Michael Uslan in a world premiere play from Asa Somers based on Uslan's memoir. The Boy Who Loved Batman will debut at Staz Center in Tampa, Florida beginning October 1 and continue through November 10 (Fogler will star through October 20).

Jeff Calhoun (Newsies) is directing the new work, which will also feature Paul Adam Schaefer as Imaginary Friend and Katherine Yacko as Nancy Uslan, along with Kelly Bashar, Nicholas Perez-Hoop, and Hugh Timoney. Casting is by Chad Eric Murnane and Amber Snead of Murnane Casting.

The play tracks the story of Uslan as he transforms his favorite superhero into a national sensation. Uslan has produced every major Batman film from Warner Bros, including the 1989 Tim Burton film Batman, the 2008 The Dark Knight directed by Christopher Nolan, and the 2022 The Batman starring Robert Pattinson. Nederlander Worldwide Entertainment is producing The Boy Who Loved Batman, with an eye on taking the work to Broadway.

The Straz run will feature scenic design by Daniel Allen, projection design by Caite Hevner, lighting design by Mike Wood, costume design by Newt Rametta, and sound design by Jeremy Douglass.
