A host of theatre favorites have joined the cast of HBO’s upcoming series based on Stephen King’s recent novel The Outsider. Among those tapped as series regulars are The Color Purple Tony Award winner Cynthia Erivo, Tony nominees Bill Camp and Mare Winningham, and current The Ferryman star Paddy Considine, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The group joins the previously announced Ben Mendelsohn, who will star as Ralph Anderson, a detective searching for answers in the murder of a young boy. In true King fashion, the case eventually involves the supernatural.
Erivo will play Holly Gibney, the private investigator seen in other King titles who helps Anderson in the investigation, with Winningham as Ben’s wife Jeannie, Camp as lawyer Howie Gold, and Paddy Considine as Claude, a witness in the case.
The series will also feature Broadway alum Michael Esper, Julianne Nicholson, Yul Vazquez, Jeremy Bobb, Marc Menchaca, and Hettienne Park.
Erivo, who made her first foray into the Hollywood scene with Widows and Bad Times at the El Royale last year, will soon star in the Kasi Lemmons-helmed Harriet Tubman biopic Harriet, as well as Chaos Walking and Needle in a Timestack.
