Two-time Tony nominee Christopher Sieber (Spamalot, Shrek the Musical, Company, The Prom) stars in the title role of The Old Globe's production of Ebenezer Scrooge’s BIG San Diego Christmas Show, which officially opens November 21 following previews that began November 17 in San Diego.
The Scrooge parody, set in San Diego, is based on Charles Dickens' classic A Christmas Carol and
is written by Gordon Greenberg and Steve Rosen with direction by the
former. Performances are scheduled through December 24 at the
Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Globe’s Conrad Prebys
Theatre Center.
In addition to Sieber as Ebenezer Scrooge, the cast includes Josh Breckenridge as Actor 4 Bob Cratchit, Jacob Marley,
Charles, and Mr. Fezzi; Dan Rosales as Fred, Young Scrooge,
Medium Scrooge, and Tiny Tim; Cathryn Wake as Prudence
Saint, Lavinia, Ghost of Christmas Present, and Archibald; and Jacque
Wilke as Gertrude Saint, Ghost of Christmas Past, Mrs.
Cratchit, and Jennie.
“It’s a delight to welcome Ebenezer Scrooge back to our stage,” said
Erna Finci Viterbi Artistic Director Barry Edelstein in an earlier statement.
“This hilarious and charming San Diego–inflected version of Charles
Dickens’ famous story will once again be a highlight of the holiday
season at the Globe. Gordon Greenberg and Steve Rosen have imagined a
kooky, wild, outsize take on a cherished tale, and they and the talents
they’ve assembled deliver theatrical exuberance and good cheer. I can’t
wait to share it once again with our audiences.”
The production also has scenic design by Adam Koch, costume
design by David Israel Reynoso, lighting design by Amanda Zieve, sound
design by Bart Fasbender, music direction by Cathryn Wake, and casting
by Tara Rubin Casting's Merri Sugarman and Kim Heil. The production
stage manager is Anjee Nero.
Lupita Nyong'o, Katrina Lenk, Jelani Alladin, and more were on hand to celebrate the October 31 opening night of Michael R. Jackson and Anna K. Jacobs' new musical.
