The Actors' Equity Foundation has announced Christine Toy Johnson will receive the 2024 Patrick Quinn Award. The honor will be presented to Johnson at a June 24 ceremony in Manhattan, along with the foundation's performance awards.
Named for late Actor's Equity Association (AEA) president Patrick Quinn, the award recognizes individuals who work to better the lives of actors and stage managers. The annual recipient is chosen by a panel, and receives a crystal piece and $1,000.
Johnson was selected based on her commitment to diversity and inclusion in theatre, for Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) actors and other historically underrepresented groups. Johnson's Broadway credits include The Music Man, Grease, and Chu Chem. She received a shared Tony Honor as a co-founder of the Asian American Performers Action Coalition, and served as a chair of AEA's Equal Employment Opportunity Committee for 22 years.
As previously reported, performance honorees include Kecia Lewis, Ciaran O'Reilly, Hannah Cruz, Andrew Durand, Marin Ireland, and Jonathan Hadary.
