News Center Theatre Group Pays Tribute to Memory of Late Artistic Director The Los Angeles organization celebrated founding artistic director Gordon Davidson in this recorded ceremony.

Founding artistic director of the Center Theatre Group Gordon Davidson passed away October 2, 2016. He led the Center Theatre Group in Los Angeles, California for 38 years. Under the auspices of the Group, the Ahmanson Theatre, Mark Taper Forum, and Kirk Douglas Theatre carried out the mission to entertain, create, engage, inspire, and put theatre at the center of it all.

A launching pad for productions and the careers of dozens of artists, Center Theatre Group honored Davidson January 9 and released the video of the ceremony January 15. Michael Ritchie, current artistic director of the Group, began the evening’s tribute. Davidson’s friends and colleagues spoke, including Judith Light, Terrence McNally, and Oskar Eustis; the evening also included performances by Andrea Marcovicci, Lillias White, and others to honor his life and work.
