Off-Broadway News Cast Set for New Musical Christine Jorgensen Show Off-Broadway

The piece tells the life story of Jorgensen, America's first transgender celebrity, and Myles Bell, who helped her create a nightclub act.

The Off-Broadway production of The Christine Jorgensen Show has found its stars.

Written by Donald Steven Olson and directed by Michael Barakiva and Zoë Adams, the  piece tells the life story of Jorgensen, America's first transgender celebrity, and Myles Bell, who helped her create a nightclub act. The Christine Jorgensen Show begins previews at 59E59 February 8, ahead of a February 14 opening night. The production will run through March 3.

The production will star Jesse James Keitel (Queer as Folk) and Mark Nadler (I’m a Stranger Here Myself). 

A trans woman, Keitel has been celebrated by Out Magazine for her on-screen performances. On the stage, Keitel has performed in drag under the stage name Peroxide as a member of the House of Femanon.

Nadler is a New York-based cabaret performer, actor, and comic who has been described as a classical piano virtuoso. The gay artist has cited Danny Kaye, Mahalia Jackson, Jimmy Durante, the Marx Brothers, and Bugs Bunny as his inspirations.

Featuring a book and original songs by Donald Steven Olson, The Christine Jorgensen Show will also feature scenic design by Shoko Kambara, costume design by Suzanne Chesney, lighting design by Calvin Anderson, sound design by Jacqui Herter, and choreography by Banji Aborisade. The show has been cast by Charlie Hano of the Telsey Office.
