Broadway News Broadway's KPOP Shares Final Casting for Upcoming Fall Run

Rehearsals begin today for the musical, starring Luna, which will begin performances October 13.

The upcoming Broadway production of KPOP has set its final cast, led by K-pop singer Luna. The show will previews at the Circle in the Square Theatre October 13 ahead of a November 20 opening night.

Marina Kondo, Joshua Lee, and Lina Rose Lee are joining the previously announced cast, which will feature Dear Evan Hansen star Zachary Noah Piser and Hamilton's Eddy Lee as well as Julia Abueva, Major Curda, Jinwoo Jung, Jiho Kang, Amy Keum, James Kho, Jully Lee, Timothy H. Lee, Abraham Lim, Kate Mina Lin, Aubie Merrylees, Patrick Park, and John Yi

From the K-pop world, Spica and Keembo's Bo Hyung Kim, Miss A's Min Young Lee, and U-KISS' Kevin Woo will also take the stage.

Previous casting had announced Will Brill and Joomin Hwang, who no longer appear in the cast list.

KPOP brings K-pop, the entertainment industry, and Korean culture to Broadway as it follows superstars risking everything for a one-night only concert as they face personal struggles that threaten their careers.

Joining the creative team are lighting designer Jiyoun Chang, sound designers Peter Fitzgerald and Andrew Keister, makeup designer Suki Tsujimoto, and production stage manager Cherie B. Tay. Casting is by Tara Rubin Casting.

Director Teddy Bergman will helm the previously announced creative team which includes choreographer Jennifer Weber, music director Sujin Kim-Ramsey, scenic designer Gabriel Hainer Evansohn, costume designers Clint Ramos and Sophia Choi, projection designer Peter Nigrini, hair and wig designer Mia M. Neal, and makeup designer Joe Dulude II.

The work was conceived by Jason Kim and the Woodshed Collective and features a book by Kim with music and lyrics by Helen Park and Max Vernon. The musical, which won three Lucille Lortel Awards including Outstanding Musical, first opened Off-Broadway in 2017 in its world premiere at Ars Nova. Ma-Yi Theater and the Woodshed Collective also contributed to bringing KPOP to the stage. The musical was awarded the 2018 Richard Rodgers Award and an Off Broadway Alliance Award for Best Unique Theatrical Experience.
