Marcus Bellamy, a onetime Broadway dancer who served as Dance Captain for Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark, has been charged with murder and manslaughter for allegedly killing his boyfriend, according to the New York Daily News.
Bernardo Almonte, identified as Bellamy’s boyfriend, was strangled August 19. At 4:02 PM that day, Bellamy’s Facebook page began displaying the message, saying “Forgive me. I did it because I love you. I love you all. I loved him also. He told me love and hate are the same emotion. Forgive me. I know not what I do. I did it for love. For god. On high.”
The page and the message were still being displayed as of afternoon, August 21.
The pair reportedly had been fighting in their apartment in the Morris Heights section of the Bronx. After the fight, Bellamy reportedly contacted a neighbor, who called police. Bellamy was waiting for them and surrendered peacefully.
On Spider-Man he was also an ensemble dancer and understudied the role of the villain Swarm. Bellamy's Broadway career included a stint as a replacement in the musical Tarzan. His film and TV career includes nine episodes of Smash, and two films directed by Spider-Man's Julie Taymor: Across the Universe and A Midsummer Night's Dream.
