Casting is complete for Pasadena Playhouse's upcoming production of Suzan-Lori Parks' Pulitzer-winning Topdog/Underdog. Performances will run February 26–March 23, with Gregg T. Daniel (True Blood, Insecure) directing.
The cast will feature Brandon Gill (Hamlet, A Christmas Carol) as Booth and Brandon Micheal Hall (Trouble in Mind, Search Party as Lincoln. Casting is by RBT Casting (Ryan Bernard Tymensky, CSA).
In Topdog/Underdog, two brothers struggle to find their footing as they hustle their way through life. Haunted by the past and their obsession with street cons and cards, the brothers come to learn the true nature of their fate.
The creative team will include scenic designer Tesshi Nakagawa, costume designer Angela Balogh Calin, lighting designer Jared Sayeg, and sound designer Jeff Gardner. The production will also feature composition by DJ Tru, guitar composition and musical performance coaching by Maritri, movement consultation by Joyce Guy, and intimacy and fight coordination by Sasha Nicolle Smith.
The Playhouse has introduced a "Pay It Forward" ticket initiative for the production, which allows audience and community members to purchase tickets that will be distributed free of charge to people impacted by the Los Angeles fires.
