Blood from a Stone began previews Dec. 13 and was originally scheduled to open Jan. 6. The press opening was delayed in order to allow director Scott Elliott and Nohilly (who is making his playwriting debut) to work on and rehearse changes to the script.

In addition to Hawke, Lyonne and Rubin-Vega, the cast includes Gordon Clapp, Ann Dowd and Thomas Guiry.

The New Group describes the play as "an unflinching and darkly comic depiction of life in blue collar Connecticut, [which] zeroes in on a working class family wrestling to keep it together as day-to-day struggles exert their squeeze. When Travis pays a visit to his parents' home, he finds an already volatile household imploding and his close-knit but deeply conflicted family teetering on the brink."

Clapp and Dowd play parents, Bill and Margaret; with Hawke and Guiry as their sons, Travis and Matt; and Lyonne as their daughter, Sarah. Rubin-Vega is cast as their neighbor, Yvette. Read Playbill.com's recent interview with Ethan Hawke, who talks about the production.

Blood From a Stone has set design by Derek McLane, costume design by Theresa Squire, lighting design by Jason Lyons, sound design by Bart Fasbender and special effects by Jeremy Chernick. Doug Paulson is dialect coach.
