Get your sleeping bag and character shoes! Theater Camp, with a screenplay by Broadway favorites (and fiancés) Ben Platt and Noah Galvin along with Molly Gordon and Nick Lieberman, is headed to movie theatres after premiering at Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. The limited release will hit screens July 14, according to Collider.
The film is inspired by the group's 2020 short film of the same name. It follows the eccentric staff of a rundown theatre camp in upstate New York as they come together with a less-than-theatrically-inclined member of the camp family to keep the program going following the sudden absence of the beloved founder.
Platt, Gordon, and Galvin star in the project, alongside Amy Sedaris, Alan S. Kim, Patti Harrison, Owen Thiele, Jimmy Tatro, Ayo Edebiri, Caroline Aaron, and Nathan Lee Graham. The project is the directorial debut of Gordon and Lieberman.
Erik Feig, Samie Kim Falvey, and Julia Hammer produced for Picturestart, in partnership with Maria Zuckerman and Ryan Heller for Topic Studios. Will Ferrell, Jessica Elbaum, Alex Brown, and Mary Bundy for Gloria Sanchez Productions are also a part of the production team.
