DESCRIPTION

The Hanover Theatre and Conservatory in Worcester Massachusetts, operating under an LOA (LORT) contract with Actors’ Equity Association and in partnership with IATSE Local 96, is seeking a Sound Designer for a full remount of its annual production of A Christmas Carol. This musical production is accompanied and underscored by a Wurlitzer theatre organ. We will open this remounted production in 2025 and plan to run it annually in subsequent years, with negotiated use fee paid to designers.


The successful candidate will create and control the audio experience for the production, including designing sound effects, music, and amplification, while collaborating with other creative team members to ensure sound enhances the storytelling and creative vision.


Scope of work:

  • Meetings with the Director, creative team and production team to create the vision and design, on approximately a bi-weekly basis beginning in August, and then more frequently as required as the production approaches

  • Create or select sound effects, music cues and other soundscapes and deliver those assets during the tech process

  • Advise audio engineer on approach to programming wireless mics for amplification and help to facilitate a smooth tech process
