The winners of the 7th annual Write Out Loud contest, which shines a spotlight on emerging musical theatre songwriters, have been revealed. The program gives emerging writers the opportunity to have a song performed by Broadway professionals and recorded in a NYC recording studio.
This year’s winning songs, and writers, include “The Risk” by Freddy Hall, “I Will Go” by Amanda D’Archangelis and Sami Horneff, and “Perfect Crush” by Ethan Farmer.
This year's adjudication team included Alvin Hough Jr. (The Lion King), Joriah Kwamé (Little Miss Perfect), Melissa Li (MISS STEP), Veronica Mansour (Lighthouse), Ryan Scott Oliver (35MM), Jennifer Ashley Tepper (Be More Chill), and Zack Zadek (The Crazy Ones).
The winning songs will be professionally recorded by Broadway alum. The resulting EP will be released on all major music platforms later this year.
Additionally, 10 finalists have been selected to have their work showcased alongside the 2025 winners in a live concert at 54 Below September 15. The finalist songs include ”Round and Round” by Abbie Goldberg and Mason McDowell, “I’ve Heard the Stories” by ASH, “Envy” by Asher Shectman and Benji Hafetz-Price, “In Reality” by Annabelle Dinda, “The Right Direction” by Caroline Game and Michael Oosterhout, “Red Lights” by Gideon Temple and Hank Temple, “Talk to Her” by Jack Richman, “Where I Belong” by Julia Gytri and Avi Amon, “Hopeless x Worth It” by Myles Carter, and “Duck Suit” by Ryan Jacobs.
The concert will be produced by Taylor Louderman (Mean Girls), Ben Rauhala, Hannah Kloepfer, Sarah Glugatch, and Josh Collopy.
