International News West End's Les Misérables Welcomes New Cast Members September 27

The international hit musical continues at the Sondheim Theatre.

Cameron Mackintosh's London production of the international hit musical Les Misérables, which resumed performances at the Sondheim Theatre September 25, 2021, welcomes several new performers beginning September 27.

Joining the company are David Thaxton (Come From Away, The Phantom of the Opera) as Javert, Ava Brennan (Hamilton, Tina—The Tina Turner Musical) as Fantine, Robert Tripolino (Whistle Down the Wind, Jesus Christ Superstar) as Marius, Nathania Ong (Be More Chill) as Éponine, and West End newcomer Lulu-Mae Pears as Cosette.

These actors join Jon Robyns as Jean Valjean, Gerard Carey as Thénardier, Josefina Gabrielle as Madame Thénardier, and Jordan Shaw as Enjolras.

The company also includes Hazel Baldwin, Brad Barnley, Emma Barr, Cameron Burt, Natalie Chua, Matthew Dale, Matt Dempsey, Bryony Duncan, Louis Emmanuel, Sophie-May Feek, Natalie Green, Melad Hamidi, Harry Jack, Christopher Jacobsen, Benjamin Karran, Yazmin King, Bart Lambert, Sarah Lark, Georgie Lovatt, Ellie Ann Lowe, Adam Robert Lewis, Donald Craig Manuel, Jodie Nolan, Sam Peggs, Jo Stephenson, Phoebe Williams, and Ollie Wray.

This production officially opened January 16, 2020, following previews that began December 18, 2019.

Les Misérables is written by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg and is based on the novel by Victor Hugo. It has music by Schönberg, lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer and original French text by Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel, additional material by James Fenton, and an adaptation by Trevor Nunn and John Caird.

Directed by James Powell and Laurence Connor, the Cameron Mackintosh production also features orchestrations by Stephen Metcalfe, Christopher Jahnke, and Stephen Brooker with original orchestrations by John Cameron, designs by Matt Kinley (inspired by the paintings of Victor Hugo), costumes by Andreane Neofitou and Christine Rowland, lighting by Paule Constable, sound by Mick Potter, musical staging by Michael Ashcroft and Geoffrey Garratt, and music supervision by Stephen Brooker and Alfonso Casado Trigo.

A North American tour of Les Misérables will relaunch in October, a new tour of The Netherlands is set for early 2023 with further productions to be announced.
