Weird Al Gives Hamilton the Polka Treatment in the Latest of Lin-Manuel Miranda's #Hamildrop Series | Playbill

Cast Recordings & Albums Weird Al Gives Hamilton the Polka Treatment in the Latest of Lin-Manuel Miranda's #Hamildrop Series "The Hamilton Polka" gives the show what it's always been missing: accordion arrangements.

The latest in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s “#Hamildrop” series dropped at midnight March 2. The third installment features the work of one of the Hamilton creator’s idols: Weird Al Yankovic. Take a listen to the parody artist’s “The Hamilton Polka” above or via Spotify.

Yankovic's reimagining of Miranda's score offers accordion-friendly takes on such tunes as "The Room Where It Happens," "The Schuyler Sisters," "My Shot," "Wait For It," and more.

Miranda is a longtime fan of Yankovic, and the feeling is mutual. In fact, the two were together upon learning they would receive stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the same year. To celebrate the release of the track, the pair will pay a visit to The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon March 2.

The #Hamildrop series will offer new content every month through December. (Miranda refers to "The Hamilton Polka" as a "February 30" drop, implying another release is due this month). In January, Miranda released a music video for The Hamilton Mixtape’s “Wrote My Way Out.”

The project launched in December with the Decemberists bringing a melody to a song Miranda had written for Benjamin Franklin—a Founding Father ultimately cut from the Tony- and Pulitzer-winning musical.
