Video Watch Lin-Manuel Miranda Try to Name Disney Songs From 1-Second Clips

The Pulitzer- and Tony–winning Hamilton writer dropped by The Tonight Show to test his knowledge of Disney tunes and talk Encanto.

Pulitzer- and Tony–winning Hamilton writer Lin-Manuel Miranda dropped by The Tonight Show January 28 to play One-Second Disney Songs with host Jimmy Fallon. Watch the clip above and play along with the Broadway and screen favorite as he is asked to identify Disney songs old and new.

Miranda has been making the rounds recently in promotion of Encanto, now streaming on Disney+. Miranda wrote the film's songs, including the breakout hit "We Don't Talk About Bruno," which recently became the second song in history from a Disney animated film—after Aladdin's "A Whole New World," written by Alan Menken and Tim Rice—to make it to #2 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart. Later in the Tonight Show appearance, Miranda speaks to the song's unexpected meteoric success.

"Group numbers never get the same kind of love that the ballads get or the comedy songs get," says Miranda, "but I did know it was catchy, because when I was first writing it, I'd catch my kids singing it just from overhearing me write it."

Watch Miranda's thoughts on the song below.
