Pulitzer Prize-winning composer-lyricist Lin-Manuel Miranda posted a remembrance of his late friend, Broadway favorite Gavin Creel, on Instagram May 6.
The Hamiltoncreator writes, "Found this footage of the great Gavin Creel rehearsing with our band for the first public performance of You’ll Be Back in 2012. Grateful for every day with him."

Blessed with one of the purest, soaring tenor voices, Creel was a Tony winner for his work in the most recent Broadway revival of Hello, Dolly! His numerous other Broadway credits included Thoroughly Modern Millie, La Cage aux Follies, Hair, The Book of Mormon, She Loves Me, Waitress, andInto the Woods. The beloved performer was also an Olivier winner for his work in the London production of The Book of Mormon.
Hamilton, the story of founding father Alexander Hamilton, officially opened at Broadway's Richard
Rodgers Theatre, August 6, 2015, following previews that began
July 13. The international hit musical won 11 2016 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, as well as the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
