News Top 10 Most-Produced Plays of 2016-17 Announced Robert Askins’ Tony-nominated play Hand to God topped American Theatre magazine’s list of this season’s most-produced plays.

American Theatre magazine, published by Theatre Communications Group, has revealed its annual top ten list of the most-produced plays of the season.

The list, which omits Shakespeare productions and annual holiday staples, is based on reports from TCG’s Member Theatres. Due to ties, 12 plays made the 2016-17 top ten list. Robert Askins’ Tony Award-nominated dark comedy Hand to God took the top slot, with 13 productions. Two musicals made this season’s list: Million Dollar Quartet and Sister Act.

TCG also released its list of the 20 most-produced playwrights. August Wilson, with 18 productions slated for the 2016-17 season, leads the pack.
