Actors, singers, and performers can now enroll in Actor Therapy's upcoming intensive courses, designed to help future Broadway artists develop their talents.
Lindsay Mendez (a Tony Award winner for the recent revival of Carousel) and composer-lyricist Ryan Scott Oliver will run the summer intensives program, now in its third year. The friends and collaborators have operated regular workshops since the early 2010s.
“College Prep,” running July 15–26, will help students train for upcoming college auditions and continue to improve their work for upcoming projects as a musical theatre major. “New York or Bust!,” July 30-August 1, will focus on new arrivals adjusting to life in New York City and navigating competitive audition processes.
Both programs include daily dance training, acting technique study, voice lessons, headshots, and Actor Therapy—a specific tool developed by Mendez and Oliver that focuses on the individual to help select the best works to perform in auditions.
In addition to Mendez and Oliver, the Actor Therapy faculty includes Broadway performers Sierra Boggess, Kerstin Anderson, Kirsten Wyatt, and Whitney Bashor, writer Peter Duchan, director JV Mercanti, and voice technicians Chris York, Dan Thaler, and Clinton Sherwood.
Master class teachers expected to drop by include Jessie Mueller, Jen Colella, Jay Armstrong Johnson, Sam Pinkleton, Adam Chanler-Berat, Ben Crawford, Sas Goldberg, Katie Rose Clarke, Ben Fankhauser, and Telly Leung. Casting directors will also stop by to offer their expertise.
