Sony Music Masterworks will release The Music of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in stores and digitally November 2, with pre-orders available now.

The album will preserve Imogen Heap's Drama Desk-winning score for the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, now playing on Broadway and London's West End. Though the two-part play contains more than 100 moments of music, Heap has put together four suites of music based on the score specifically for the album, each corresponding to one of the play's four acts.

"The challenge was how to weave [the musical moments] together," Heap shares in press notes, "and I think it has manifested into a really enjoyable listen, with memories for those who’ve seen the play, musical accompaniment to those with the script of the play or simply just to enjoy the music as a stand-alone album. It is crafted to be listened to in its entirety, taking the listener through different worlds within each suite. I don’t know another album like it. I hope others enjoy listening to it as much as I’ve enjoyed making it.”

Heap is a two-time Grammy winner with four self-written and produced solo albums to her name. Over her more than 20-year career, she has collaborated with such artists as Jeff Beck, Taylor Swift, Mika, and Josh Groban.

The Music of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will be a rare album featuring music written for a stage play, though not the only one to be released. The original casts of such works as Waiting for Godot and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf recorded albums of those works in their entirety, and scores for such productions as the original Broadway Death of a Salesman and Rashomon, and Roundabout Theatre Company's recent revival of The Price have seen album releases of their own as well.

Rowling, Jack Thorne, and John Tiffany and inspired by the characters and world of Rowling's wildly successful Harry Potter book series, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Parts One and Two features a script by Thorne, direction by Tiffany, and movement by Steven Hoggett. An Australian production is set to begin at Melbourne's Princess Theatre in January 2019, with a second North American company and German production set to follow.
