SIX: The Musical has announced that the original cast of its West End production will reprise their roles at the Vaudeville Theatre for a live filming. Performances will be suspended beginning June 27 with a performance starring the original queens to be held July 1.
The film will star Olivier nominees Jarnéia Richard-Noel as Catherine of Aragon, Millie O’Connell as Anne Boleyn, Natalie Paris as Jane Seymour, Alexia McIntosh as Anna of Cleves, Aimie Atkinson as Katherine Howard, and Maiya Quansah-Breed as Catherine Parr. Liz Clare will direct, having recently directed Adele - Live at the London Palladium.
Limited tickets will be available to the July 1 performance, which will be made available via the production's social media channels as a public ballot beginning June 10 at 10 AM BST. Due to equipment needs, seating capacity will be reduced and some sightlines may be affected. Winners will also have the chance to pose for photos and enjoy the show's purple carpet.
“Having our original cast captured on film is just such an exciting, mind-blowing prospect," says creators Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss in a statement. "We are so thrilled that we are finally going to be able to share their incredible performances of our show with the whole world! Live captures are such an important part of the world of theatre accessibility today—and we are so very grateful that we get this opportunity to share the six queens’ story this way.”
Richard-Noel, O'Connell, Paris, McIntosh, Atkinson, and Quansah-Breed are also reprising their roles this summer in three previously announced open-air concert performances in the main courtyard of Hampton Court Palace June 19-20. The sold-out performances are taking place at the historic palace built by one of King Henry VIII's advisors, then given to the king when the advisor fell from favor in 1529. The reigning West End queens will resume their roles at the Vaudeville Theatre July 2.
Kenny Wax, Wendy and Andy Barnes, and George Stiles serves as SIX's producers. The show currently has productions running in London, on Broadway, and tours across the UK, North America, and Australia. Broadway's SIX recently received eight Tony nominations.
